Hong Kong singer Coco Lee has died by suicide at the age of 48. Her death was announced by her sisters, Carol and Nancy Li, on Instagram on January 5, 2023.
Lee had been struggling with depression for several years. On December 31, 2022, she posted a lengthy message on Instagram about her mental health journey. In the post, she wrote:
"Love and faith are my two favorite words. They are the two things that have helped me get through this incredibly difficult year. Life can be unbearable at times, but I have faced it head-on with the strength of a warrior. I have always smiled and laughed, even when things were tough. We all have the power, courage, and strength within us. If we use them, we can gain the most precious wisdom that will change our perspective on life."
Lee also wrote about her gratitude for being alive and for being able to live her true self. She encouraged her followers to remember that they are not alone and that they should never give up on their dreams.
"I will never give up," she wrote. "I will never crumble, like the Great Wall of China. If I can overcome anything, you can too. You are not alone."
Lee's death has shocked and saddened the music industry and her fans around the world. She was a talented singer and songwriter who had a successful career spanning over two decades. She will be remembered for her beautiful voice, her positive energy, and her inspiring message of hope.
